WelcomeUniversity College Dublin is a large and diverse university whose origin dates back to 1854. There are over 20,000 students based in Colleges. The University strives to achieve the highest standards in the advancement of knowledge through research and scholarly publications. It communicates that knowledge to successive generations of students through excellence in teaching. The University also makes an active contribution to the interest and development of the wider community - regional, national and international. UCD Conway Institute, located on the Belfield campus of University College Dublin (UCD), is a major site for interdisciplinary research within the area of Life Sciences encompassing biomolecular and clinical sciences, bioinformatics and chemistry. The Institute fosters dynamic interactions among innovative researchers within a multidisciplinary collaborative environment that is supported by state-of-the-art technologies and technical expertise. The principal goal of the Institute is to establish an international centre of research excellence that will advance knowledge in the biosciences and facilitate its translation into the healthcare and commercial sectors. To facilitate research excellence, the Institute has invested in core infrastructure technologies which include functional genomics capabilities, imaging, flow cytometry, laser capture microdissection and mass spectrometry. The Mass Spectrometry Resource (MSR) is a state-of-the-art facility that supports the proteomics research within the Institute with the aim of identifying proteins and their modifications that play important roles in fundamental biology in health and disease. The MSR activities are coordinated by Dr Giuliano Elia, Director of MSR and steered by the MSR Steering Group. The MSR Steering Group prioritises, when necessary, the different proposals received. The MSR is financially administered under a running costs recovery model, therefore there are fees applied to the different workflows. Please check the MSR Price List. Please note: Prices have changed since January 1st, 2012 !!!
To access and use the MSR instrumentation, interested users have to use the UCD Conway Core Technologies Booking System. Short instructions on how to register to and use the online booking system can be found here. ALL RESEARCH WORK PUBLISHED THAT AVAILED OF THE SUPPORT OF THE MSR MUST ACKNOWLEDGE "ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE UCD CONWAY MASS SPECTROMETRY RESOURCE INSTRUMENTATION" IN THE RELEVANT SECTIONS OF PAPERS, CONFERENCE ABSTRACTS AND POSTERS. The MSR has the use of the following instrumentation:
one Applied Biosystems 4800 Plus MALDI-TOF/TOF one Thermo Q-Exactive Quadrupole Orbitrap one Thermo LTQ-Orbitrap one Thermo LTQ linear ion trap one Agilent 6520 Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Chip ESI mass spectrometer one Agilent 6460 Triple Quadrupole Chip ESI mass spectrometer one Bruker Daltonics HCTultra ETD II ion trap mass spectrometer
